Construction begins on all-weather Landing Zone

About
Construction has begun on a permanent landing zone (LZ) to be used to land medical helicopters at Clover Hill Fire and Rescue. Our station is one of the pre-determined LZ sites in Rockingham County. Currently when a medical helicopter is needed in the area, it must land on the grass field by the station. If the ground is wet or there is snow or ice on the ground, this makes landing the helicopter more difficult. When the new LZ is completed the concrete pad will have the ability to be heated to melt snow and ice and it will have the necessary lighting to allow for night time operations. This project is being generously funded by private donations, in kind labor and equipment use. We thank the community for their continued support of our operations!
